It must be all of his socializing! He was such a calm boy.

The Pet Partner's Therapy Exam was at the Golden Valley Humane Society. I had Mike drive me because I didn't want to be nervous about driving and keeping Topper handsome!

Part of the exam includes how the horses are groomed. They must be meticulously groomed. This means getting his hooves picked right before going into the building, neatly clipped, and VERY clean!

Thanks to Kelly who came over and fixed my clipping job!!

The test also includes basic commands, walking around the room with distractions too! There were people in a verbal confrontation, volunteers with walkers, and wheel chairs. He had to be subjected to touching by the tester. She lifted his feet-he flinched a little when she touched his back legs but relaxed and didn't attempt to kick. He stayed when I asked him. He was great!! No accidents!

Me on the other hand....I have never been much of a role player!! They are also testing how the handler reacts to everthing too so it is important to always check on your horse. Well, when nobody was really there I didn't always check...but in a real visit situation it is important to always check on your horse. WE are the horse's advocate and we must protect them too!

Despite me....we passed. I am blessed to have such an amazing horse.

I also completed the R.E.A.D. program so once we get our paperwork back we can work on those projects too. So excited to make a difference and bring some joy to others.

Next up...working with Major and Kizz. Not every horse is meant to be a therapy horse. Kizz might be our entertainment horse : )
